Abstract

A new analytical expression for the integral transmission function corresponding to the uniformly mixed atmospheric gases (CO2, N2O, CH4 and O2) is proposed for solar radiation models. The expression is based on the latest known spectral absorption data of the gases as well as on the Ñeckel and Labs (1981) extraterrestrial solar spectrum, which is the best currently available. The proposed formula is compared with the known expressions for the integral transmission function of the uniformly mixed gases and the results of this comparison are discussed. © 1985 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
