Synthesis of Ag-Nanoparticles and their Application in Treatment of Waste Water

Abstract

In this study Ag-nanoparticles have been prepared to eliminate lead which is one of majer polluted commen heavy metals from waste water. Ag- nanoparticles were prepared by wet chemistry method using (AgNO3) as a source of silver and glucose sugar as reducing agent and trisodium citrate used as masking agent. We identified the prepared Ag-nanoparticles by a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and dynamic light scattering (DLS) hence zeta potential - sizer analyzer device used to examine the stability and size distribution of silver nanoparticles. The spectrum of UV-Vis spectroscopy shows the plasmonic signature of silver metal at 415 nm. The Ag-nanoparticles were applied in removal of pb(II) from polluted water by adsorption using flame atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS). In order to remove lead from waste water the influence of various experimental factors such as contact time, pH solution and initial concentration of metal, dosage effect of the adsorbent were investigated. The adsorption process found to be agree with Freundlich adsorption isotherms.
