Abstract

A mathematical investigation of the velocity and attenuation for waves traveling around a solid cylinder immersed in water is reported. In the limit of large cylinders approximate results are given for both velocity and attenuation. The method used is an extension of the theory of Viktorov [Soviet Phys.—Acoust. 4, 131 136 (1958)].
