Abstract
Objective: The objective of this study is to examine the empowerment of creativity in disabled students through sustainable agropreneur-based education at Ainul Yakin Islamic Boarding School for Disabled Students in Yogyakarta. The aim is to explore the contribution of this program to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in education, decent work, and reducing inequality. Theoretical Framework: This research is grounded in inclusive education and sustainable entrepreneurship theories. The integration of these two frameworks provides a foundation for understanding how agropreneurship can empower disabled students and enhance their economic independence while contributing to the broader SDGs. Method: This qualitative case study used purposive sampling to select participants, including students, teachers, administrators, and community members. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, non-participant observations, and document analysis of the school’s curriculum and student progress reports. Results and Discussion: The study revealed that the agropreneur-based education significantly enhances the creativity and economic independence of disabled students. Through practical training in agriculture, students develop entrepreneurial skills that allow them to engage in sustainable business ventures. The challenges faced by students, such as limited resources and societal barriers, were also identified and discussed in light of inclusive education theories. Research Implications: This research has practical implications for inclusive education, showing that agropreneur-based programs can be an effective model for empowering disabled students. It also contributes to policy development in education for special needs students. Originality/Value: The study contributes to the literature by providing insights into how sustainable entrepreneurship education can support the empowerment of disabled students in Islamic boarding schools. This model is an innovative approach in Indonesia and highlights the role of inclusive education in achieving the SDGs.
