Abstract
Objective: The objective of this study is, based on the notions of practice and practical sense of Bourdieu (2009, 2011b), to analyze how the daily work of four elementary school teachers and their routines unfold. Methodological procedures: This is an empirical sociological research in which data were collected through semi-structured interviews. Theoretical framework: For Bourdieu, habitus produces practices and presents itself as a kind of practical sense, that is, the understanding of what should be done in a given situation. Results and discussion: The four interviewed teachers have little time and resources to expand their cultural capital. Their routines are marked by practical sense in the classroom, that is, by moments in which the teachers' performance is marked by the automatisms of action.
