Abstract
People with disabilities in Mexico and Latin America have limited access to assistive technology. Assistive devices provide independence and access to educational, vocational, and social activities. This paper presents the Mexican experience establishing a rehabilitation engineering and technology center. This article describes some of the projects that have been developed at the Center and extends an invitation to join in the provision of assistive devices for people with disabilities. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2007.
