Abstract
Aim: The article deals with production of biodiesel from jojoba oil using ultra assisted sonicator, and the influence and optimization of process parameters on biodiesel production. Methodology: Biodiesel was produced from joboba oil through transesterification by means of ultra assisted technology. Results: The results revealed that the ultrasonic technology reduced the reaction time from 10 hr to 1 hr with an applied power of 40W, methanol-oil ratio of 5:1 and catalyst concentration of 1.5 wt/wt of 5% of oil at 60°C. The maximum yield of esters (92.5%) was obtained at minimum operating temperature of 60°C at initial concentration (1.35%) of catalyst. Intrepretation: This study endorses that biodiesel can be produced by ultra assisted technology which reduces the reaction time required.
