Abstract
Dyspnea is a complex physiologic and psychosocial symptom that is difficult to characterize and measure, but essential to treat, as it has a significant effect on quality of life. Although palliation of dyspnea in the child with chronic illness is an under-researched area, children and their families cannot wait for the research to catch up with their current needs. This article addresses several aspects of dyspnea in pediatrics palliative care, with an eye toward practical suggestions for evaluation and management. © The Author(s) 2012.
