Abstract
The paper substantiates the geomechanical principles of predicting outgassing as an integral element of the concept of the complex mining and processing of mineral raw materials. The research focuses on analyzing the methane outgassing patterns in complex mining and geological conditions of Western Donbas, which allows for the development of effective approaches to managing the risks of explosion-hazardous gas concentrations during the mining process. A new integrated methodology for geomechanical prediction of volumes to be outgassed from the mined-out spaces is proposed based on the analysis of primary experimental data and on the use of regression modeling. The key factors influencing the processes of draining-out of gases have been identified, and dependences have been derived that allow for the prompt prediction of methane flow rates during complete mining of coal seams. The influence of rock pressure, change in the structure of the coal-rock mass and the stope operations performed in the previous years are examined. The results obtained not only allow for a more efficient prediction of volumes to be outgassed, but also serve as a basis for developing a comprehensive strategy for utilizing methane as a related resource. Thus, geomechanical prediction is becoming an important component of the concept of multi-product production, which aims to improve economic efficiency and technological safety in the process of complete mining of reserves. An approach to forming a digital model of a coal-rock mass is proposed, taking into account the space-time characteristics of gas saturation zones and rock pressure, which allows for adaptive planning of measures for draining-out of gases. This approach helps to improve the safety of mining operations and create the preconditions for environmentally safe methane extraction as an alternative energy source.
