Abstract

Nurses in all practice settings counsel patients' families. A response to this professional role has been the establishment of family study in baccalaureate curricula. Since the educator's supervisory role is critical to the success of any family study, this article outlines the predictable stages through which students pass and focuses on the appropriate supervisory stance from initiation through termination. © Lippincott-Raven Publishers.
