Abstract

In New York, males of Ostrinia nubilalis (Hübner) are attracted to trans -11-tetradecenyl acetate, and are only slightly inhibited by cis -11-tetradecenyl acetate. However, in the 2nd flight period (August), trans -11-tetradecenyl acetate attracts few feral males, suggesting that the corn borers present in large numbers in August employ a different communication system.
