Abstract

In the last decade, knowledge of α-adrenoceptors has expanded enormously. It is the purpose of this review to present the current status of our knowledge of alpha adrenergic receptor subtypes. The goal is to provide a brief perspective as a context for our current understanding and to highlight the gaps in our current understanding. From a pharmacological perspective, it should permit the development of very selective drugs with relatively few side effects.
