Abstract

Treatment of xanthoma of the Achilles tendon is reported by unilateral total resection of the tendon and reconstruction by Dacron graft. The functional and cosmetic results of a 60-year-old female patient with familial hypercholesterolemia and impaired by multiple sclerosis were excellent. After eight months there are no signs of recurrence. Case report and surgical treatment are discussed in relation to the four patients so far reported in the English literature. The present case is the first to be reported with reconstruction by Dacron grafting.
