Abstract

Pollination is essential for the reproduction of most species of flowering plants. In addition, it is an essential service in the production of many foods. There is a kind of relatively little studied pollination, pollination by vibration. In this type of pollination, bees hold the anthers (predominantly poricidally dehiscent pollen) and vibrate their thorax, shaking the anthers and releasing pollen. The study of pollination by vibration, especially of its mechanism, it is important to identify commercially viable native pollinators for crops that exhibit this type of pollination, such as tomato, eggplant and scarlet eggplant.
