Universitarios y lectura:análisis cuali-cuantitativo del uso, accesibilidad y valoración de los libros

Abstract

The reading behavior of young Chilean university students during their last years of study, and the possibility of projecting their eventual disposition as future book consumers, has motivated a research which is discussed in this article. After this research, background information was obtained that allowed characterizing the behavior of young readers, their level of valuation of books, and the channels through which they access them. The quantitative analysis is the result of a relationship between the original institutions of the students (either financed by the State or private), and the fields of study of the individuals. The latter have been classified as Art, Social Sciences, Basic Sciences, and Applied Sciences students.El comportamiento lector de los jóvenes universitarios chilenos en sus últimos años de estudio y la posibilidad de proyectar su eventual disposición como futuros consumidores de libros ha sido el detonante para realizar una investigación de la cual se da cuenta en el presente artículo, tras la cual se obtuvieron antecedentes que permiten caracterizar el comportamiento lector de los jóvenes, su nivel de valoración por los libros y los canales de acceso a través de los cuales acceden a ellos. El análisis cuantitativo obedece a la relación entre institución de origen de los estudiantes (financiada por el Estado o privada) y el tipo área de estudio de los sujetos, siendo ésta clasificada como estudiantes de Artes, Ciencias Sociales, Ciencias Básicas y Ciencias Aplicadas.
