Abstract
Infections with Parelaphostrongylus tenuis should always be included as a differential diagnosis for neurologic disease in exotic ungulates. Commingling of white-tailed deer with exotic ungulates should be avoided because of the high prevalence of P tenuis infections in white-tailed deer. Definitive diagnosis of a P tenuis infection in exotic hoofstock will require postmortem examination, because larva generally are not passed in the feces of these aberrant hosts. Larva may not be found in all animals with P tenuis infections.
