Thematic trends and social networks in Spanish doctoral theses relating to mass media and health (1979/2020)

Abstract

The objective of the present study is to analyze the relation between the presence of women in the management structures of the Spanish Psychological Association (Spanish acronym, COP), and the level of feminization of this collective, through information gathered from different document sources such as webpages, acts, reports and scientific journals edited or co-edited by the Spanish Psychological Association. The results indicate a clear horizontal segregation in the field of Psychology for what concerns enrolled students, graduated students, and licensed professionals. Moreover, there is a vertical segregation favoring men in health colleges and in the direction of editorial committees of journals edited by the Spanish Psychological Association, even though it is worth mentioning the changes that have been taking place regarding inclusive language. It can be concluded that in a field so feminized, like Psychology in Spain, inequalities associated with gender can still be observed in some areas of the college structure.
