Abstract

Collisions between clusters of galaxies are investigated to determinewhether the systems will survive their first encounter. Numericalsimulations show that two clusters can pass through one another withoutdestroying the individual optical components. The gas in the clusterswill be strongly affected and cooling flows in them may be disrupted.
