Abstract

The way to Construction 4.0 in the production and construction of infrastructure projects. The construction industry is facing profound changes. Among other things, the requirement of implementing a more sustainable building culture, the increasing shortage of skilled workers and the rising demand for infrastructure construction projects, are challenges of today. Indeed, the industry will not succeed in solving these challenges with the procedures and processes that have been practised for decades. Therefore, it is important to prepare the construction industry for the implementation of Construction 4.0. This paper explains what is behind the term Construction 4.0 and what difficulties currently exist in its implementation. Based on this, recommendations, measures and initial approaches for implementing are presented. Thereby, the paper focus on the production and construction phase of infrastructure projects, which is important for construction companies.
