Abstract

IN THIS ARTICLE is examined the theoretical set developed by the politicians of the Republican Party of Rio Grande do Sul, which were based on August Comte's positivism. Among the more important principles, observed by them, was the political trend. This can elucidate the fact that during the 40 years of the political hegemony of the PRR - from 1897 to 1937 -, Porto Alegre, the capital of the state, had only three quartmasters.
