Abstract

Although mul/ets from the Brazilian coast have been commercial/y ex- p/oited for a long time and used in fish cu/ture experiments more recent/y, data for accurate identification of species are not available in the Brazilian literature. This guide was p/anned to provide information for the identification of ali lhe species found a/ong lhe Brazilian coast, based on inspection of easily recognizable morphologica/ fealures. A key to species and data on their dis- tribution, fishery, biology and fish culture in Brazil are presenled.
