Abstract
This article poses different problems that complicate establishing associations between knowledge about education and actual teaching practices in Spain in recent years. It offers a historical perspective: the distance between the university and school, the hardened, past rift between theory and practice, academic guidance for the initial stages of teaching, professional cultures of learning centers, and the difficult communication between theorists and practitioners. The article offers courses of action that can help to overcome these limitations through professor training on the following topics: creation of action research cycles, inter-institutional agreements, building professional teaching knowledge, adopting a realistic approach and building small pedagogies. The article concludes with a reflection on the relevance of the role of professors in overcoming this rift.
