Abstract

Afghans arrived in the north-east region of South Australia in the nineteenth century as camel-drivers, valued for providing an efficient means of transport across the region. Arabana and Wanganuru language texts recounting the relations between Aborigines and Afghans, and their pursuit of Aborigine girls, are presented with their English translations.
