Abstract

As part of a search for new antidiabetic agents, 4-oxazolealkanoic acid derivatives (III) were synthesized and tested for hypoglycemic activity in mice. 4-Oxazoleacetic acids (IIIb) bearing a styryl or a suitable aliphatic hydrocarbon moiety at the 2-position showed potent activity. The synthesis and structure-activity relationships of these compounds are presented. © 1986, The Pharmaceutical Society of Japan. All rights reserved.
