Abstract

5-N-alkyl-2-(4-n-alkylphenyl)pyridines, useful as liq.-crystal components (no data), are prepd. by reaction of 5-n-alkyl-2-(4-bromophenyl)pyridines with alkyl Grignard reagents catalyzed by PdCl2(dppf) [dppf = 1,1'-bis(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene]. Yields range from 86-99%. [on SciFinder(R)]
