Abstract

The current financial and economic crisis has challenged many for-profit-business-models. The cooperative business model on the other hand emerged invigorated from the crisis. This paper explains the stabilizing and sustaining features of the cooperative business model. Beyond that the potential of the cooperative idea and practice for civil society is analyzed. Finally short and medium to long term applications of the cooperative idea are shown against the backdrop of the current cooperative start-up-boom. (English) [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
