Redescription of the type of Siphlonurus davidi (Nav s, 1932) (Ephemeroptera: Siphlonuridae)

Abstract

The type specimen of Siphlonurus davidi (Nav s, 1932, sub. nom. Siphluriscus ? davidi), a male subimago deposited in the Paris Museum, is redescribed. Based on the entire male styliger plate, a hind wing shorter than the length of the forewing, and the distal position of vein MA of the hind wing, the present placement in Siphlonurus is considered valid pending discovery of other stages. Siphlonurus davidi will key to S. palearcticus and S. binotatus in recent keys from which it is distinguished by the greater width of the hind wing and the absence of prolonged projections on terga 8 and 9.
