This article examines the physical safety risks of platforms and mobile units for offshore hydrocarbon exploration and exploitation in the Colombian Caribbean Sea. To this end, a conceptual review is performed, relevant literature is examined, and the resulting risks are analyzed. After establishing the classification and measurement criteria, the impact and probability of violent events that could affect these platforms and units are examined. It is concluded that most risks are asymmetric, with a low and medium level of occurrence probability. Among these, terrorism and hostile actions between States stand out because of their potential impact. Better control of the maritime territory should be exercised in favor of maritime and energy security.
