Abstract

Understanding the effects of high-performance work systems on productivity in small to medium enterprises (SMEs) can be critical to the sustainability of these firms in Zimbabwe. The study investigates the moderating role of HR Analytics on the effects of high-performance work systems on the productivity of manufacturing SMEs in Harare CBD. The study draws inspiration from human capital theory, which elaborates on the need to invest in employees to realize productivity. The investigation was conducted between 1 June 2024 and 31 December 2024. Quantitative research was used, and 276 respondents from 50 manufacturing SMEs in Harare CBD participated. Multiple regression and Andrew F Hayes were utilized for data analysis. The study demonstrates that combining HR Analytics and HPWS positively affects productivity. This study adds to the body of knowledge by showing that HR analytics is necessary for maximizing the effects of HPWS on productivity in SMEs.
