Abstract

Halogenation is one of the most important reactions in organic synthesis. Recently, transition-mental-catalyzed C-H halogenation has emerged as a powerful and economical strategy for the synthesis of organohalides. In this review, we summarize recent advances on transition-metal-catalyzed halogenation of unactivated C-H bonds, according to the types of transition metals (palladium, copper, rhodium, ruthenium, and cobalt), the scope of reactions and mechanism. Finally, the limitations and perspectives on C-H halogenation are also described.
