Abstract

This article attempts to cover both the legal and documentary aspects of the subject, and to make some recommendations relating to the organisation of the associated services. Every effort has been made to ensure that the following is legally acceptable in at least England and Wales. Much of the organisational side refers to the hospital service but the general legal principles stated cover all known aspects of death certification.
