Abstract
This paper discusses the challenges that art can bring to the field of education, questioning, in particular, the ways in which works of contemporary art can instigate training processes that are less linear and more open, less rigid and more flexible, less rational and more poetic, able to produce a contemporary way of thinking which helps us face the complex task of educating in our times. This text also explores the connection and the tension between art and education, in addition to their possible effects on broader educational policies and practices. As theoretical basis, we use philosophical inputs from Friedrich Nietzsche, art theorists such as Arthur Danto, and the discussion triggered by works from three contemporary artists.
