APUNTES SOBRE LA COMUNIDAD GITANA ESPAÑOLA: BREVES TRAZOS DE SU HISTORIA EN CONEXIÓN CON EL CONTEXTO EUROPEO

Abstract

The following work takes you on a journey through the history of the gypsy people since their emergence in Spanish territory, according to that evidenced since the XV Century to present. In addition, reference is made as to the fate of the communities that sprung up throughout the European territory, giving rise to a specific legislation and generating all types of prejudice based on fear and lack of knowledge, as well as on the most primitive ethnocentrism that in many cases posed tremendous suffering to its members —by no means deserved— but justified from scientific parameters to ideological criteria from the entire political scope.El trabajo que presentamos a continuación hace un recorrido por la historia del pueblo gitano desde su aparición en tierras hispanas, de lo que se tiene constancia desde el siglo XV, hasta la actualidad. Asimismo, hacemos alusiones a la suerte de las comunidades que fueron apareciendo por el territorio europeo, dando origen a una legislación específica y generando toda clase de prejuicios basados en el miedo y el desconocimiento del otro, así como en el etnocentrismo más primigenio, que han supuesto en muchos casos un calvario nada merecido para sus miembros, pero justificado desde parámetros científicos hasta criterios ideológicos de todo el abanico político.
