Abstract

Despite efforts to identify risk factors and establish effective prophylactic agents, postoperative atrial arrhythmias remain a prominent clinical problem. Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most frequently encountered arrhythmia after cardiac surgery. This chapter addresses the epidemiology, pathogenesis, complications, prevention, and treatment of atrial arrhythmias following cardiac surgery.
