Abstract

Although some behaviors performed by members of the organization are not moral, they can be done in order to protect or support the image, aims and interests of the organization. It is seen that these behaviors called Unethical Pro-Organizational Behavior have started to be studied in the literature of organizational behavior in recent years. The aim of this study is to put forward applications of unethical proorganizational behaviors in the organization and in respect to this, to set forth employees’ experiences. In the study, bank employees’ behaviors have been focused on, not their intention of realization of unethical pro-organizational behaviors. For this reason, in the study phenomenologic pattern has been preferred which is one of the qualitative research methods. According to the purposeful sampling method, participants have consisted of 9 employees of 3 different banks. Data have been collected with semistructured interview forms. In the study, what the carried out unethical pro-organizational behaviors are, what the contextual, situational and individual factors are that cause the behavior to occur and what the perceived possible consequences of these behaviors are sought. Accordingly, it has been determined that unethical pro-organizational behaviors are mostly carried out in relation to banking transaction costs and these behaviors can be in different ways depending on the characteristics of the customer and the characteristics of the transaction. Another finding obtained in the study is that unethical pro-organizational behaviors have become the secret ethical rules among the employees.
