Abstract

Global lipid analysis/profiling (lipidomics) is a rapidly expanding field that is a focal point of integrated omics (systems biology) studies of disease. Integrated omics is defined as the correlation of interdisciplinary technologies to interpret the molecular interactions within a biological organism, in response to gene/chemotherapy or disease state, by monitoring and correlating: phenomics, genomics, transcriptomics, lipidomics, proteomics, PTM profiling, glycomics, metabolomics, and bioinformatics.
