Abstract
High-temperature resistant and fine diameter SiC fibre was prepared by a series of combined curing and sintering processes at 1800°C of polyaluminocarbosilane fibre. Slight air curing avoids excessive oxygen incorporation, and subsequent thermal curing rendered the infusible green fibre for pyrolysis. It appears that Al content plays an important role when the fibre is fired at high temperature to remove oxygen and excess carbon.
