Abstract

We report an extremely rare case of bilateral discoid medial menisci. A 14-year-old, male, recreational baseball player was seen with pain in the medial side of both knees when walking. There was no history of definite trauma. The diagnosis of the injury to bilateral discoid medial menisci was achieved by physical findings and using MRI. Arthroscopic examination in both knees confirmed bilateral discoid medial menisci with horizontal cleavage tears at the middle segment. Plastic meniscectomy under arthroscopic control was performed in both knees. Clinical conditions are improved at the early stage of the postoperative period. A year after surgery on his left knee or nine months postoperatively on the opposite side, the patient is completely free of symptoms and joins in the little league baseball.
