Abstract

Library collaboration is a must, because it can improve library performance. Telkom University Open Library organizes many events as a result of collaboration with various institutions. The purpose of this research is to find out the background, strategies, activities, evaluation process, and the obstacles in building collaboration. The research method is a qualitative with case study approach. The results explain that the aims of collaboration in Open Library are improving library services and as branding efforts to the library. Collaboration is built with reference to specific strategies. Determination of collaboration refers to the common mission and values. Types of collaboration-based activities are organizing literacy events for the civitas and the community, and increasing access to information sources. The evaluation process is by organizing a meeting after the event and giving questionnaires to the participants. The obstacles are often misunderstandings. Open Library has a public relations librarian who plays an active role in building collaboration. Conclusion, libraries must build collaboration in order to improve services and be more visible. The success of collaboration is influenced by the commitment and dedication of library staff, and their skill in communication and relationship. It is recommended that the library has a public relations staff.
