The supervision process through the eyes of the supervisor

Abstract

The article offers an overview of the common expectations of the supervisors from their supervisees, so as to offer proposals to students on the subject of supervisor-student relationship. Approaches and strategies are suggested for developing the common themes formulated from the responses of five sport and exercise psychology supervisors. Findings of the data identified that appropriate qualifications, clear goals, preparedness, good communication skills, and critical thinking are the main expectations of the supervisors from the doctor of philosophy (PhD) students and in-training practitioners.
