Abstract

Music therapy is a therapeutic method used in dealing with people suffering from various somatic and mental disorders. The paper discusses the current state of knowledge about the use of music therapy in the management of people suffering from obesity. Attention was paid to the possible positive effect of music therapy on weight control. It also reviews the literature of controlled clinical trials conducted over the past 10 years on the importance of music therapy in the treatment of obesity. These studies show that music therapy can have a positive effect on both weight loss and maintaining an adequate caloric supply of food. The small number of studies, however, does not allow to formulate precise conclusions and unambiguous conclusions. The issue of the effect of music therapy on the clinical condition of patients suffering from obesity requires further research.
