Professionalism and integrity: phenomena and principles

Abstract

This article examines the relationship between professionalism and integrity, highlighting the importance of these fundamental values in the legal field and is developed in the context of the Subprogram “Consolidation of socio-economic and legal mechanisms for ensuring the well-being and security of citizens” within the L.C.Ş. “Comparative Public Law and e-Governance”, Faculty of Law, State University of Moldova (CONSEJ 01.05.02). Integrity is defined not only as compliance with the law, but also as impeccable ethical and moral conduct, being essential for maintaining public confidence in the judiciary. Integrity Law no. 82/2017 details various forms of integrity, including political and institutional integrity for the public sector and the ability to act legally and transparently in the private sector. Professionalism, interpreted as a professional conscience, is closely related to integrity, both of which constitute the pillars of ethical professional practice, strengthening trust and respect in the profession.
