Abstract
The emission (HC,CO,NOx and PM) and energy consumption performance of six transit buses (five hybrid transit buses and one diesel bus) were tested. Combined with the cost analysis of the actual operation in Beijing 121 bus lines, comparatively researched the emission and energy consumption and the operating cost compared with the conventional diesel transit bus, and analysed the energy saving and environmental protection benefit of the five hybrid transit buses. The analysis results show that, hybrid city buses have a good effect of energy saving and environmental protection, and the best vehicle can recover the full incremental cost compared with conventional diesel vehicles. In the life cycle of vehicle, the five hybrid transit buses can save fuel 140,500 L accumulatively and reduce the e-mission of pollutants about 5.28 tons. When the saving rate is 26 percent, in addition to an enormous environmental benefits, the full incremental costs can be recovered in the life cycle of vehicle.
