Abstract

José Luis Guerin's career untiringly sounds cinema out from its core. In Guerin's hands, the projector becomes an extension of a reflective look on the medium itself. With La dama de Corinto. Un esbozo cinematográfico (2011), he invokes living through the image beyond its natural environment, far from the movie theater, and opening a new way regarding an alternative for the traditional areas of media representation. By talking to Guerin, the focus in this interview is on his work with the image in permanent construction. The aim is also to remark the rhetoric and the system of codes that the message creates in the new areas of representation, like the dialectics that come up between the film object and the audience. Author: Santiago Barrachina Asensio (Valencia, 1979) holds a degree in Audiovisual Communication by the Universitat de València. Since 2001, he works for the video library in l'Institut València del Audiovisual i la Cinematografia Ricardo Muñoz Suay (IVAC-La Filmoteca), and has been linked to different activities regarding the spreading of the film culture in associations such as the Cinefórum Comunicación Audiovisual, today the Cinefórum L'Atalante, which is in charge of the Aula de Cinema of the Universitat de València. He was part of the team which launched the journal L'Atalante. Revista de estudios cinematográficos.
