Abstract

Reports on the strike staged by the unions of the "Philadelphia Inquirer" and "Philadelphia Daily News" newspapers in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Disruption of the newspaper service because of the strike; Failure of the unions to reach a contract agreement with parent company Knight-Ridder Inc.; Expansion of the news coverage of local television stations in response to the strike.
