Abstract

This article aimed at discussing the trajectory of the Manguinhos communities, in the context of favelas in the city of Rio de Janeiro, mainly concerning housing and urban policies and occupation proceedings. Te centennial history of this region reflects urban space disputes and the complexity of the favelas theme upon historical problems connected to this kind of housing, community, and locality.
