Abstract
This research aims to determine the effect of the Realistic Mathematics Education approach on mathematics conceptual understanding skill. The population in this study was all students in class VIII of SMP Negeri 20 Bandar Lampung for the 2023/2024 academic year, distributed into 10 classes. The sample for this research was students in class VIII-A as an experimental class consisting of 30 students and VIII-C as a control class consisting of 29 students selected using a purposive random sampling technique. The research design used was a pretest-posttest control group design. Based on the results of the t-test, it was found that the average ability to mathematics conceptual understanding skill of students who took learning using the Realistic Mathematics Education approach was higher than the average mathematics conceptual understanding skill of students who took conventional learning. Thus, learning with the Realistic Mathematics Education approach influences mathematics conceptual understanding skill.
