Abstract

Artificial intelligence is a qualitative leap in the field of technological developments in the modern era, and its development helped to use technologies in many fields. Libraries took the leads using the advantage of technical developments and their applications in all aspects of their technical and information services. In technical aspects, libraries have been keen to constantly develop their catalogs, taking advantage of what the library management systems provide in terms of developing and accelerating their technical operations and linking them to other systems, such as publishers' systems to facilitate the acquisition process, international catalog systems to speed up cataloging processes and various databases to facilitate search and retrieval. For information services, libraries took advantage of artificial intelligence techniques to identify researchers and their research interests and knowledge needs, as well as benefit from Internet of Things technologies to facilitate services to researchers and users. This paper discussed the different aspects in which academic libraries have invested in technologies to improve their tasks, especially with regard to the use of artificial intelligence in the field of information services, challenges they face, and their efforts to improve library services and raise the level of their performance.
