Abstract

Susceptibility of the isolated larval abdomen of the silkworm, Bombyx mori, to a nuclearpolyhedrosis virus was increased by the injection of ecdysterone. Autoradiograms showing incorporation of 3H-thymidine in the isolated larval abdomens revealed that the incorporation of 3H-thymidine into the nucleus of infected cell was enhanced when the host was received an injection of ecdysterone. These results indicated that a nuclear-polyhedrosis virus developed more rapidly in the ligated larva, which had been inoculated with ecdysterone and induced to pupate, than in the larva without ecdysterone. © 1972, The Japanese Society of Sericultural Science.
