Abstract

Comments on the article written by Neil L. Whitehead in the 2000 issue of `The Hispanic American Historical Reviews' which tackles the captivity of Hans Staden among the Tupi Indians in Brazil. Factual errors on the accounts of Staden of his captivity and its publication history; Authenticity of the accounts of Staden; How Whitehead dealt with the relevant literature written by Annerose Menninger on the captivity.
